Excursion Bluff hill hike tour at bluff

Cruise line: Silversea
Difficulty:

The epicurean adventures you'll find in the deep south originate from idiosyncrasies of local culture and the sub-antarctic temperatures of Foveaux Strait. You won't find wine growing in this region, but you will discover gourmet treasures that are found nowhere else in the country - Southland's clean, fresh waters are full of deliciously fresh seafood including paua, blue cod, scallops, rock lobsters and many deep inshore fish species, making it a seafood lover's paradise. This region never fails to surprise and is a land with many stories.

Join your guide to experience the rich and diverse cultural, natural and human history of the Bluff Conservation Area and immerse yourself in the extraordinary landscape including a significant geological landmark, Bluff Hill. The region is a nature lover's delight, with abundant native birdlife and flora, much of which is rare except on island sanctuaries and is one of the last populated places in New Zealand where the forest meets the sea. Hike the well-maintained tracks toward Bluff Hill summit, approximately 265 metres above sea level, where you will be rewarded with panoramic views of Stewart Island and nearby islets including Dog Island.

After your walk, enjoy morning tea and spend a short time making local connections and hearing stories of the land and the sea as well as the history of the deep south of New Zealand.
