Excursion Fyvie castle & prosecco afternoon tea tour at Aberdeen

Cruise line: Silversea
Difficulty:

Undoubtedly one of the finest castles in Scotland, Fyvie can trace its royal connections back to 1211 and William the Lion. Robert the Bruce held open-air court at Fyvie and Charles I spent some years here as a child. Discover this magnificent gem on this half-day excursion.

Travel 90 minutes west from Aberdeen to visit one of the original Royal Strongholds that once formed a chain of fortresses across medieval Scotland. Each tower of this magnificent Scottish Baronial fortress is traditionally associated with one of the castle's five successive families: Preston, Meldrum, Seton, Gordon and Forbes-Leith. You can see their influences today, from the medieval stones to the lavish Edwardian interiors.

Fyvie boasts a rich portrait collection and one of the largest private collections of Raeburns in the world. Enjoy the extensive artwork with a guided tour and expert talk from an Art Conservator with a demonstration of art preservation. There is an equally impressive collection of fine furniture, tapestries, arms and armour throughout the castle's vast chambers.

Head to the Historical Squash Courts where you can enjoy the tradition of being lord or lady of the castle with prosecco afternoon tea before returning to your awaiting ship.
